orchid cultural and answer questions about orchid care. It is
intended, especially, for new members and new growers but the
long established members are welcome. This mixed experience
level gives the novice many opinions, advice that may work in their
growing area. It, also, allows new members to meet and get to
know the more experienced members of the society.

Come get your fleas! Not really . . . come to buy orchids or sell your extras at our OSWP
homegrown orchid flea market extravaganza. EVERYONE IS WELCOME . . . even just to
window shop.
12:30 set up your market; bring your own table, orchid plants and paraphernalia priced ready
to sell
1-2 orchid flea market and see the Marsh orchids outdoors and the indoor light garden
2-3:30 CSG meeting with OSWP vanda expert, Carole Abbott, speaking on how to grow
those amazingly beautiful orchids from the vanda alliance
3:30 wrap-up, cookies and clean-up
Carole Abbott who grows beautiful vandaceous orchids in her kitchen (sunroom) and greenhouse
will share her cultural secrets with all of us. Vandas, ascocendas and ascocentrums can bloom
several times a year in vivid jewel tones. Some spikes can last up to 8 weeks. Carole has always
done a wonderful job of growing and blooming them.
Also, bring your SHOW N TELL orchid(s) in bloom. We’ll have that as a regular part of the
CSG meetings and give traveling trophies! First and second places (popular vote, no rhyme or
reason) will get to have a piece of lovely orchid art in their home until the next month. Then the
winner has to bring it back for the next month’s meeting. If history serves, have a great story to
go with your blooming orchid . . . it can win you a lot of votes. (Sob stories do the best!) The
first place trophy is called the TRAVELING TROPHY, the second place is the EGG-Ceptional
TROPHY. Both are awarded at each meeting and both must be returned for the next meeting.
Vote early and vote often!
