It’s Phipps Phun time again. New members and experienced members can help by repotting, weeding and cleaning the orchid collection at Phipps. Then you can tour the conservatory and gardens afterward.
For September we’ll gather at Phipps on Thursday, September 25th, from 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM. We meet in the lobby (9:30AM) and then get down and get dirty. We also take a break to snack on goodies and talk and laugh. After we’ve finished at 1:30, if you’d like, you are welcome to walk around and visit the conservatory. Parking is free when you park in the center section of the road in front of Phipps around the statue. If the guard asks, just say you’re volunteering. It’s no problem!
We need 5-6 people to repot and to help clean up the orchids and growing areas (and whatever else needs done). Wear work clothes!
To help out, be sure to call Demetria Marsh at 412-630-8293 or email at demetmarsh@verizon.net. Thanks and hope to see you there. It’s phun to work and learn!
ALSO . . . Georgia is looking for 2 volunteers to come every other week to help out in the Orchid Exhibition Room at Phipps. Weeding, cleaning, mounting orchids to the trees, helping carry plants from the growing houses etc would all be part of the phun! If you’d like to help out twice a month or alternate with others for once a month, email Demetria or call her to let her know. demetmarsh@verizon.net or 412-630-8293.
