All you Pfun people, it is back to work in July. Our dates are Thursday July 7
and Thursday July 21. We are hoping to have sufficient volunteers to empty
the coolers in the basement and attack the mealybug population there. Then,
we will return in 2 weeks and do it again! Others will be repotting orchids in
the potting area.
Which brings me to a compliment we received from a Phipps employee. A
woman commented that the Orchid Society always cleans up after themselves.
Bravo!!
If you are new to OSWP or to Pfun, a few guidelines:
You may park in front of the conservatory, around the statue. Do NOT forget
to put a sign on your windshield saying you are an Orchid Society volunteer.
We work from 9:30 until approximately 1pm with a break for coffee and treats
at 11. I will wait in the lobby, near the cafe, until 9:30 for the group. Anyone
coming after that can come to the greenhouses on his/her own or phone me at
412-367-1556.
Dress for working in greenhouses. If it is hot and sunny, we will be warm.
Also, no sandals.
You will receive a 20% discount at the Cafe or gift shops the day of your
volunteering.
