I, (Timothy Choltco) and my mother (Judie) will host this year’s picnic at our home at 1866 Bull Creek Rd. in Tarentun
on Sunday July 17, 2011, beginning at 2:30 p.m.. Our home is easy to find (see directions BELOW)
and it normally takes about 20 minutes or less from downtown Pittsburgh. The OSWP will provide hot
dogs and bratwurst, as well as soft drinks. I decided that since no wine was embibed at the last picnic I held, this year
will be BYOB. We are responsible adults, feel free to kick back with a few drinks. Please bring an appetizer,
side dish, salad or dessert. To ensure that we will have a balance of items, please let Judie or Tim know
what you will be bringing. If you have folding chairs that are easy to bring please do so. We possibly
could also use a few more tables. PARKING SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM, BUT CAR POOLING IS APPRECIATED.
The Picnic will begin with an informal "tour" of the grounds between 2:30 and 3:00pm. The grill will get popping between
4:00 and 4:30. There will be a few (NON-ORCHID) plant give aways. These will include tropical house plants and a few
perennials.

Wayne Roberts, orchid grower, vendor of orchid mixes and supplies, fertilizers, pesticides, humidity trays, greenhouse
materials and all things in the realm of hobby orchid growing has agreed to attend our July picnic and to bring orders
with him (provided that our collective purchase is large enough).
For many of us, Wayne, an OSWP members and longtime participant at our annual show, is our “big box store” when it
comes to nurturing our beloved plants. Wayne also delivered supplies at last year’s picnic, much to the delight of those
OSWP growers (and there are many of us) who hadn’t managed to complete our late, late, late spring repotting.
Interested in terrestrials? Check out Wayne’s Cypripediums and other native orchids. Reginaes (see picture) are in
bloom in the pots right now.
Note: due to space limitations, Wayne cannot bring any of his light fixtures to the show, but he wants us to know that
he now carries the new grow LED’s, as well as 2 ft and 4 ft T-5 fixtures. If anyone would like to see them up close and
personal, he would be happy to bring some along.

mileage and toll expenses.
