Oswp Auction in June!
Join Us! We are having three auctions in one during the Sunday June 14, 2009 OSWP meeting – a Live Auction,
a Silent Auction, and a “Possibilities” Table. Members are asked to donate plants and/or orchid related items for
the event. When you are repotting your plants and separating new divisions this spring, remember to set aside
some divisions or plants for the auction. When spring house cleaning, consider donating items that have an
orchid theme such as jewelry, pottery, china, books or previous awards, etc. The auction supports our OSWP
speakers program and provides OSWP members with an opportunity to acquire excellent additions to their orchid
collections. Many premium plants obtained from various vendors will be included. A catalog will be available at the
auction preview on Sunday June 14 in order of the auction.

2009 OSWP Auction Details - Plant Registration - When, where, etc.

If you are planning to donate an orchid or an orchid-related item, please read this. Your clean,
appropriate, saleable item needs to be brought to the Phipps Garden Center on Shady Ave.  11:00AM to 1:00PM
on Saturday, June13. We put a limit of 2 plants per member to donate. Members who are vendors are excluded
from this limit. When you register your items, you will receive a receipt (for the IRS) which indicates the value of
your donation. We will also ask you to complete a card that asks for the genus and name of the plant as well as
noteworthy attributes, i.e. outstanding color, reliable bloomer, easy to grow, rarity, etc. These cards will form the
basis of our auction catalog.

If you absolutely cannot bring your items to registration, please call someone who lives near you to
bring yours with theirs. Do not forget to include the above plant information. If all else fails, please call
Edye at 412-963-9790 prior to June 13.

Once again we will have a “Possibilities” table. Donations for it might include such things as seedlings 1
or 2 years away from blooming, orchids with missing name tags, planting paraphernalia such as baskets
and hangers, etc. Of course, all items are to be clean and desirable. These will be priced attractively and
will be for sale before and after the live auction and during a seventh inning stretch. Items for this table
must be received by Saturday or very early Sunday prior to the auction.
